quarantine has given the term “netflix and chill” a whole new meaning

hey, all you cool cats and kittens! after day 496 of quarantine, it's definitely starting to feel like we've watched almost everything there is to watch. we've admittedly started every work call with our work besties by saying "spoiler alert!" or "tell me when you get to part X" or bringing up anything Tiger King-related (sh*t was CRAZY!). but after signing up for every streaming channel possible and fully ravaging through the selections from Netflix, Hulu, AppleTV, Amazon Prime AND Disney+, we still feel like we need more. it's a pretty similar approach to how we're handling snacks these days, but we digress.

lucky for you, we rounded up a few of our favorite movies from the '80s, '90s, and 2000s (nostalgia, much?!) starring some of the best leading ladies—because watching strong, funny, beautiful, smart, amazing women is exactly what we need right now. so, splurge a little. The movie marathon starts right now.

1. Overboard - if you are a fanbof goldie hawn, this. is. your. moment. She's everything you love her for (and more!). Plus, she kicks ass as a single, working mom. You go, goldie! (Amazon Prime; $3.99)

2. Pretty in Pink - molly ringwald was queen of the '80s and this movie proves it. It also brings up the very important question: if you had to choose between dating your childhood sweetheart or the rich-but-sensitive playboy, what would you do? (Amazon Prime; $2.99)

3. Breakfast Club - speaking of molly ringwald, if you haven't seen Breakfast Club, where have you been?! this iconic coming-of-age film features five high school students from all walks of life, forced into Saturday detention together where they learn about themselves and about life. You'll end this film raising a fist in the air for simpler times. (Hulu)

4. Ghost - pottery can get messy; so instead of making it yourself in quarantine, watch demi moore and patrick swayze do it—we promise, it's worth it. Not only is demi in her heyday here, but there's also the incredible, and psychic, whoopi goldberg. You won't want to ghost this reco. (Amazon Prime; $2.99)

5. Bridesmaids - kristen wiig, maya rudolph, megan mcCarthy and more of the best female comedians ever in one movie that we will watch over and over again. Need we say more?! (HBO)

6. 9 to 5 - what if women ran companies back in the '80s? this movie poses that important question. plus, it's really fun to watch three female secretaries get revenge on their sexist boss—just sayin'. (Hulu)

7. Legally Blonde (1, 2, and 3!) - whoever said orange was the new pink is seriously disturbed. and whoever said Elle Woods (played by the lovely Reese Witherspoon) was "too blonde" is obviously also out of their minds. you don't have to bend our arms to snap this movie on the TV. See what we did there? (Amazon Prime; $2.99)

8. Heathers - this movie is what gave winona ryder her original creepy, but beguiling character (pre-stranger things). If you like clueless, but want it to be a little darker, this movie is for you. (Amazon Prime; $0.99)

9. Reality Bites - women creating their own lives and careers and managing love and relationships in the process—we're here for it! the only way we could love this classic more is if it was set to an amazing '90s soundtrack... oh wait, it is! (Hulu)

10. Selena - this incredible biopic of a young Latin legend, who died too young, but left a huge mark on the global music scene, also helped to launch the movie career of one of our favorite leading ladies - JLo!  a couple years before donning her green versace dress at the grammys, JLo starred In her first movie and one of her most acclaimed roles combining her singing and acting talents. Selena has us dancing around our apt - i mean where else are we going to go? (Amazon Prime; $3.99)

happy binge-watching! xx
